You will probably miss the hypomania

Depression is noticed nearly always — it hurts. A high is barely noticed, because it does not hurt; the opposite. There is energy, everything gets done, ideas connect, sleep feels unnecessary.

So a high is usually seen first by the people around it rather than the person in it. Not because anyone is lying to themselves, but because from the inside a high does not feel like a state. It feels like finally being all right.

There is one practical conclusion: agree in advance with ONE person who is allowed to say it out loud. And write down calmly which two or three things it is for you. Not for the app — for yourself.

And separately: missing a high is not a failure. Almost everyone misses it, including people who have lived with this for decades.
